The General Aviation Group comprises three Units: the Helicopter and Agricultural Unit, the Special Flight Operations and Recreational Aviation Unit, and the CAA's Health and Safety Unit.
The Group oversees operators of rotary wing and agricultural aircraft, adventure aviation, sport and recreation aviation, and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), along with associated maintenance. The principal focus of the Group is on certification and surveillance of certificated operators in these sectors, as well as the oversight of non-certificated aviation participants and private operations.

The team’s primary focus is on certification and surveillance of commercial operators in these two diverse aviation sectors. Secondary attention is also given to aviation participants that conduct uncertificated hire or reward operations, and private helicopter operations.
