The Authority
The CAA is governed by a board of community and aviation industry
representatives whose focus is strategic direction, accountability and
performance. The five members of the Authority are appointed in accordance with
section 28(1) of the Crown Entities Act 2004.
On 10 June 2010, the Minister of Transport Hon Steven Joyce, announced the
appointment of Peter Griffiths, Deputy Chairman, and Anita Mazzoleni and John
Bartlett as members of the Authority. Their appointments take effect from
25 June 2010.

| Chairman | Rick Bettle | Rick Bettle is a Professional Director and Accredited Fellow of the
Institute of Directors who has worked in both the public and private
sectors. He has previously chaired several organisations and companies,
including the New Zealand TAB, the Racing Industry Board, the New Zealand
Lamb Company, Capital Coast Health, Southland DHB, West Coast DHB, and
Wrightson Finance. From 1995 to 1998 he headed the law firm of Kensington
Swann. He has lectured in New Zealand and overseas on a range of topics associated with good governance and finance. His current positions include Chairman of the Aviation Tourism and Travel Training Organisation Ltd (ATTTO), and Powerco and Directorships of Goodman NZ, Revera, and Retirement Villages Group NZ Ltd. |

| Susan Hughes, QC | Susan Hughes has been a partner in Govett, Quillam, Barristers and Solicitors, since 1987. She was a member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Council from 1988 until 1991, Chairperson of the Care and Protection Resource panel from 1990 to 1993, and Chairperson of the Criminal Legal Aid Sub-Committee until 1998. She is a Fellow of the Arbitrator and Mediators Institute. | ||
| Anita Mazzoleni | Anita Mazzoleni is an independent corporate finance adviser and company
director. She has had a commercial career in industry and finance,
particularly the evaluation and funding of infrastructure. She has
previously held senior positions in the public and private sector, including
as General Counsel of Contact Energy Ltd and Director of Industrial Research
Ltd. She is currently a Commissioner of the Commerce Commission, primarily
working in the area of telecommunications regulation and competition
enforcement, and an independent director of companies owned by Ngati Whatua

| John Bartlett | John has strong aviation industry experience spanning 45 years,
particularly in the area of strategy and development. Recently retired as
CEO and Director of Pacific Blue Airlines, his aviation career includes 30
years as a pilot, flight examiner and flight safety expert. He has held
senior executive positions in Ansett New Zealand, Virgin Group and the Civil
Aviation Authority. He is currently Chief Executive of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and Southern Opera. |
