General Aviation Group

The General Aviation Group covers most of the aircraft flying in New Zealand.

The Group assists General Aviation companies to start new operations, modify aircraft, add more aircraft to a fleet, change senior personnel, schedule audits and deal with maintenance issues. It also deals with queries from individual operators.

The Group is divided into a Fixed Wing Unit, a Rotary Wing Unit and Sport and Recreation Unit. All include entry compliance and safety monitoring specialists to deal directly with clients. Each unit also receives specialist support from the Aircraft Certification Unit attached to the Airlines Group.

Field Safety Advisers (FSAs) are also part of the team. They work in the field offering generalised advice, education and communication with the aviation community.

Along with others, the Group is responsible for updating the CAA’s database of participants in the aviation system, their safety and security as well as their continued compliance with Civil Aviation Rules. It also helps maintain the Air Navigation Register and New Zealand Register of Aircraft, as well as helping develop Airworthiness Directives.

Any member of the Group may be contacted by e-mail or by their direct dial telephone numbers. To find the right person, click on the unit you need to talk to below. The General Aviation Group fax number is 04 560 9611.
