Policy & International Relations
Policy and International Relations undertakes CAA’s high level policy projects and assists in the development and amendment of legislation affecting safety and security.
The unit administers New Zealand’s obligations as an ICAO contracting state, assisting in the development and adoption of ICAO standards and recommended practices. As part of its international relations function the unit maintains and develops relations with foreign aviation authorities including technical and co-operative agreements.
Policy and International Relations activities include the drafting of responses to ministerial correspondence and parliamentary questions, preparation of reports to the Minister and coordination of correspondence with Authority members.
