Revised Advisory Circular:  AC171-1 Aeronautical Telecommunication Services-Operation and Certification, Revision 1-Effective 20 Nov 2009
Revision 1 introduces changes to this Advisory Circular to reflect the amendments that were made to Part 171 in the reissue dated 24 Jan 2002, and to reflect changes to ICAO Annex 10, which is now presented in 5 Volumes.  Also the types of facilities have been updated to include new technology, and guidance material relating to the rules for facilities that operate in the aeronautical radio frequency band and do not support IFR flight or an air traffic service, has also been added. The revision also amends the section on Internal Quality Assurance.   Guidance material on quality assurance matters is now contained in AC00-3.

New Weather Radars
A new Doppler weather radar installation at Mahia, Hawkes Bay, will become operational from 2 November 2009. The Mahia radar will join five other similar Doppler radars located around the country. Information from the Mahia radar will be available in MetFlight. Further Doppler weather radar installations are planned for the Bay of Plenty (2010), South Island West Coast (2011) and Northland (2012).

01 Oct 2009 New Advisory Circular:  AC00-5, Parts Documentation-CAA Form One-Authorised Release Certificate-Effective 02 October 2009
This is a new Advisory Circular to be associated with Part 21 for the installation of parts, Parts 43 and 145 for aircraft maintenance organisations, and Part 148 for aircraft manufacturing organisations.
The Advisory Circular also introduces harmonised instructions for the use of the CAA Form One (authorised release certificate) to meet the globalisation of the aviation industry.
Aircraft maintenance organisations and aircraft manufacturing organisations who issue CAA Form One–authorised release certificates should adopt this new format and use of the CAA Form One in accordance with the Transition Provisions of this Advisory Circular. This Advisory Circular replaces the information regarding the CAA Form One in Advisory Circular AC43-3.

Revised Advisory Circular AC61-7, Pilot Licences and Ratings-Airline Transport Pilot Licence, Revision 11-Effective 05 Oct 2009
Revision 11 introduces Subject 40-Flight Planning (aeroplane) in the objective performance verb format which is the result of a review and re-presentation of the existing Flight Planning (aeroplane) syllabus.  As the rule introducing Extended Diversion Time Operations (EDTO) has not yet come into force, it has been necessary to amend the ‘Pending” ATPL Flight Planning (aeroplane) syllabus to delete reference to EDTO and replace it with ETOPS.
