Design Delegation Holders Seminar

The 2007 Design Delegation Holders Seminar was held in Hamilton on 7 September 2007. The one-day seminar was attended by over 60 participants from the industry, CAA, and CASA.

The seminar provided an excellent forum for Design Delegation Holders and Part 146 Design Organisations' staff to discuss technical and professional topics, and network with other members of the industry. The seminar was opened by the Director of Civil Aviation, Steve Douglas, and included presentations from the Aircraft Certification Unit (ACU), the Legal Unit, Alpha Aviation, Air New Zealand Engineering Services, Flight Structures Ltd, and CASA.

The ACU presented proposals to change current certification policy including adoption of a “changed product rule” in Part 21, requirements for an STC, and amendments to AC 146-1 to better define a Class A and Class B design changes. A copy of the draft amendment to AC 146-1 Appendix C is available below. Formal submission on ACU proposals presented at the seminar are now invited. Please forward your comments to Peter Gill:
