RAPIC (Weather Radar Picture) - New Plymouth Radar

The intensity of the precipitation is indicated by the colour code on the right hand side of the picture. Colours towards the bottom of the scale indicate light intensity precipitation; moderate intensity near the middle of the scale, and heavy intensity towards the top of the scale. The radial area in the immediate vicinity of the radar site (at the cross-hairs of the display) is caused by sea clutter (the radar signal close to the radar station bouncing off the sea).
