CAA to investigate fatal microlight accident

The CAA will investigate a microlight accident, which occurred today at South Head, Kaipara in which two people died.

Safety investigators Steve Walker and Matt Harris are expected to arrive at the scene tomorrow morning.

The aircraft is a microlight, believed to have been en route from Ohakea to Dargaville. It was reported missing to the Rescue Coordination Centre of New Zealand at 1200 today, and located by a farmer at about 2pm today.

Responsibility for identifying the victims rests with the Police, who will also retain control of the scene until the CAA Safety Investigators are on site tomorrow.
