A statement on behalf of the family of Jeremy Cook
Today has been a celebration for my brother, Jeremy Cook, through the eyes of some of the many people whose lives he shared and touched including immediate and extended family, friends, colleagues and associates.
Jeremy was the Civil Aviation Authority Inspector on the “handover” flight of the Air New Zealand Airbus A320 which tragically crashed into the sea near Perpignan in France, killing all seven on board. On the flight with Jeremy were two German pilots from XL Airways and four Air New Zealand specialist staff – our heartfelt condolences go out to all the families of these men.
Throughout our ordeal, our family has received amazing support from everyone. In particular we would like to thank the Civil Aviation Authority; all the Air New Zealand staff who were mobilized to help, with special mention of the Special Assistance Team (SAT); the Wigram Airforce Museum; the DC3 Trust, as well as our fantastic families and friends.
The sudden traumatic circumstances surrounding Jeremy’s death have been difficult for us to process and come to terms with, however, we will all take great comfort in knowing that he had a family who all adored him and who formed the centre of his universe; he had many interests and facets to his life and thoroughly enjoyed all of them; and he was doing a job that he loved.
He was living his Dream.
